What if the there's a difference in project start/end date between Harvest and Price&Cost?

If someone submits the time to the project in Harvest for a date, that's earlier than the project is set to start in Price&Cost - we will adjust the start date in Price&Cost and sync the time.

If someone submits the time to the project in Harvest for a date, that's later than the project is set to finish in Price&Cost - we will adjust the end date in Price&Cost and sync the time.


What if resources planned in Price&Cost for a certain date got reassigned and do not submit their time as it was planned?

Harvest is the "source of truth" for us as far as actual time spent is concerned. So, you planned some time for the resource in Price&Cost - this will be deleted during the sync if they end up not logging their time against that project in Harvest.


What if someone who's not originally planned on the project in Price&Cost submits their time in Harvest?

In this case we will add that persons time to Price&Cost project.


How do you handle time submitted against tasks in Harvest?

Price&Cost doesn't yet have support for Harvest task (although this is coming soon!). For now, we will combine the time people have submitted against different tasks in Harvest into 1 row in Price&Cost - meaning their time will be summed-up for that day.


What if Harvest project's tasks have different bill-rates (corresponding to the role they fulfil) and my resource submit time against those tasks accordingly?

This is where it gets tricky. Price&Cost natively supports role-based rate-cards whereas Harvest doesn't. We've seen a number of clients simulate role-based pricing through tasks on Harvest projects.

Price&Cost will still sync the time submitted against the correct resource but will apply the bill-rates/costs-rates as set for the resource in Price&Cost. We suggest getting in touch with us at support@priceandcost.com and we'll be able to help you there.


How do you handle Harvest's non-billable tasks in Price&Cost?

There are a number of scenarios possible:

The resource is planned in Price&Cost as billable and there's a time entry coming for the same date from Harvest as non-billable (from the non-billable task)
  • we create a new row with the same resource and role, but with bill rate of 0 - thus making it non-billable in Price&Cost.
  • we clear the effort for the same date in the resource's billable row in Price&Cost.
The resource is planned in Price&Cost as non-billable (rate = 0) and there's a time entry coming for the same date as non-billable from Harvest (from the non-billable task)
  • we just overwrite the time planned in the same row with effort coming from Harvest.
The resource is planned in Price&Cost as billable and there are two time entries coming for the same date and same resource from Harvest: one as non-billable, another as billable
  • we clear the effort planned for the resource for this date in Price&Cost
  • we add Harvest billable time to the billable resource row
  • we create a non-billable row for resource (rate = 0) and add Harvest non-billable time to it.
